Moments when the world feels very big are when you are out walking during an amber rainstorm or when you are out walking during an amber rainstorm and unemployed. (I’m fine). Everything is on top of you. Gallons of life. You make no footprints. You are either still and put up with it or you are moving and put up with it. Rain stops or shelter is found. This morning I stand out in it. White noise beneath my transparent umbrella. It is not sad. It’s cozy. It’s not demented. It’s enlightened. It’s free. A bath. A shower. A hosing down. A cleansing without the juice. Part obstacle course, part interactive sculpture as the water shows you just exactly how the pavement lies. Nothing is flat, even, or still. Constant motion.
